When the end of the academic term is about to get to an end, testing (both their design and marking) turns into a sort of taboo word among teachers who have to deal with not only practice activities to train for them but also with the process of creating tests at different levels . To make matters worse, then we (teachers in our trenches) are in charge of marking, storing and delivering results.

Definitely you need tools to let off steam. Here’s the hint for that:

“Computer based testing, Computer Adaptive Testing, and Web Based Testing are innovative new formats that provide versatile assessment options for modern education, learning and training.”

The web offers several online possibilities which can be described as the perfect Web 2.0 tools for exam design/creation.
Last year I tried Zoho Challenge and this year I’ve been using Classmarker, which allows video and audio input within the test content. This is by far the best free option, completely flexible, allowing quite a big number of candidates, and … the most important bit: A wide range of configuration alternatives that meet all your needs, both as teachers and learning centres /institutions.

“Owing to the influence of computer games, school technology programs, and the proliferation of home and office computers, there is an entire generation of students who are computer literate, possess great keyboarding skills, and aren’t the least bit intimidated by technology. Undoubtedly, this group of test-takers would prefer the expediency of computer testing for a variety of reasons. One of the primary concerns of test takers is to get the results from testing as soon as possible, and to disseminate that information to the relevant institutions. Computer-assisted testing technology greatly increases the efficiency and speed of scoring exams, thereby decreasing the turnaround time required for the test taker to receive scores. The test taker can access test scores electronically and online with secure personal identification number codes”.
